As we conclude The Family Channel series, I want to encourage all of you do get involved in one of our many ministries here at ROL. We have something for everyone. If this series has brought to light unresolved family hurts, I encourage you to take the first step and sign up for Healing the Hurts of Your Past on Monday nights beginning February 28th.
If you realize through this series that your marriage could use some TLC or you just want to spend some time appreciating your spouse, then perhaps the two of you should consider our upcoming class on Thursday nights titled Marriage Oneness. In these dynamic, video-based sessions, Marriage Oneness equips couples to grow in true intimacy, connection, and purpose - and experience closeness for a lifetime. If you are not able to commit to 8 weeks or if Thursday night doesn't work for you then mark your calendars for April 1st and 2nd for a Family Life Marriage seminar titled, The Art of Marriage. Paul Roop, former River of Lifer now serving in full-time ministry with Family Life will be here to host this event. Remember as parents you are modeling for your children what a Godly marriage looks like. We can all use some training on God's design for our marriage relationships.
Lastly, I want to encourage you begin looking for areas to volunteer at River of Life. Please know, I'm not interested in you volunteering for the sake of "filling a spot". At River of Life we desire every Christ-follower to be serving in their zone. Serving in your zone doesn't mean every minute of serving is euphoria; sort of a heavenly experience. But serving in your zone does mean you will be fulfilled, bear fruit, be faithful, and in the long run make God famous. A good part of spiritual maturity is the man or woman who is eternally grateful for God saving them from the penalty and power of sin, and as a result desires to volunteer in the church as a "thank you" to God. This is why we serve Him. Ephesians 6:7 makes this point by simply stating "Serve with enthusiasm, as though you were serving for the Lord rather than for people." Consider being aggressive for God! Rather than waiting for someone to ask you for help, begin reading your bulletin and approaching folks asking if they could use your participation. If you dare "go this way" you will discover much joy and satisfaction in being a contributor for the glory of God.
On the Victory Side,
Dave
