You've Got to be Kidding! Everyone Serving

This series is something else. Pastor Dave's message last week was so powerful, and God did some amazing things in the hearts of people. Wouldn't it be great if God could move like that all the time? Are you kidding me? That would be awesome!

The thought of everyone being free in Christ is a wonderful thought, so what are we doing with this freedom? We live in a society that is all about me, what can you do for me, how can you benefit me. In fact, we live like this life and people owe us something. You know what I am talking about, when you are at the grocery store and the cashier takes longer than five minutes to ring you up, you're upset. Or you go to the drive through to get some food and it takes you longer than three minutes, you are freaking out. Or what about when you are at a restaurant and you actually sit for ten minutes before someone come to serve you...oh, not that!

What if God decided to come to this earth, to get from us what we owe Him? Are you kidding me!? How terrible that would be for us, because we are a fallen world and if God had that attitude toward us, we would never be able to give Him what He deserves.

He deserves to be honored.
He deserves to be respected.
He deserves to be worshiped.
He deserves to be praised.
He deserves to be feared.
He deserves to be loved.
He deserves obedience.

The list can go on and on, and many times we walk through life saying the same thing, I deserve___________! Well there is one thing that I have realized, and that is when it comes to our relationship with God, we do not want what we deserve.

But thank God He did not come to get, He came to serve.

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his Life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28 (NLT)

Are you kidding me! What if all of us had this mentality? At your work place, at the grocery store, in your family, or at your church? That whenever you or I showed up, we took the freedom we have in Christ, and the gifting that God has given us, and served others. The world would be a better place.

Just remember one thing, because of what Jesus has done; you have been served, so serve others in your realm of influence.

Just a thought,

Mike
